Scott Osma looked at the flashdrive he held in his hands. It was technically his, but oftentimes his sister would take it to store ideas. It was dark as pitch, with the USB port that connected to a computer retractable into flashdrive. The slider that controlled the USB port was red. The design was one of the reasons he had bought it in the first place. Sure, the 8GB of memory helped, but that was just standard to him.
He inserted the flashdrive into his computer, ready to look at whatever ideas his sister had happened to put on it this time. She was always asking him to look at her clothing designs. It made sense; he often modeled whateve

Catwalk Part 4.5: Road Game
Janet wrapped a checkered scarf securely around her neck. She took one last look around her home, triple checking that her house staff had either left for the day or were otherwise occupied. Seeing nothing but long stretches of empty hallway, the pop star ducked back inside her room and silently shut the door. She unlocked her window and stood on her balcony, letting the glass doors swing shut behind her.
In the blink of an eye, Janet leapt off the edge of the balcony and sped away on large checkered wasp wings. Within minutes her stately manor was a speck on the horizon. She took a breath and let the joy of flight spur her onward toward The

Gatta listened quietly to the person on the other end of the line. The man was speaking quickly, clearly somewhat excited. He had called the guild with a proposition, and Gatta had answered it. Gatta was deciding what to do. The proposition was interesting. It would be difficult to pull off, and almost certainly illegal, but that didn’t bother him. The compensation was good, too. It would most likely be fun. He decided he would accept it.
When the man had reached the end of his proposition, Gatta replied his consent. It wasn’t like he and his sister hadn’t done something like this before. He had even done several things sim

Rico Despra sat in a dark room in Shanghai. The sounds of the bustling streets reached the dark room, but he paid them little attention. He was far more concerned with the man that sat in front of him. The man was of a short stature, and had blue eyes. His dark colored hair easily blended in with the darkness of the room, but his skin was a different matter. He was pasty white, a sight that was uncommon on the streets of Shanghai. Rico held no doubt that the man was American. He spoke perfect English, and had the accent of one from California.
Rico himself was Spanish. He was of average height, around 5’9”, and had tanned skin w

Janet Cherui awoke to the chirping of her songbird alarm clock. It was 10 AM and the sunlight bathed her spacious room in a happy golden glow. She bounced out of bed, folding her covers back and fluffing it all neatly into place before walking to her bathroom with a spring in her step. She was booked for a concert today, as is usual on most days, but today she would be doing a dual performance with the esteemed Fanfare.
She’d been fangirling over the mysterious magician for days, so much so that she’d almost tripped on stage at her last performance. He was just so…so… dashing! She’d read the magazine articles,

The following months went incredibly well for Ixlan and Otogi. The move to the United States of America had gone over smoothly, as had the paperwork for the formation of “The Teahouse.” They started taking requests almost as soon as they landed. Some paid better than others, but they didn’t discriminate on the jobs they took.
Word of the “Hunter without a heart” got around fast, and before long, people were specifically asking for her services. Her poison bombs were an efficient way of killing the monsters without damaging the materials, and were greatly sought out.
Around four months after their arrival, a rat

A brisk wind howled across the barren plains of Germany, biting at two hooded figures huddled around a large pile of corpses. The two moved as a single unit, methodically carving the slain beasts for certain parts and discarding the rest. Once the salvaging was complete, the heap of remains burst into flames, lighting up the area to reveal numerous scorch marks marring the ground, some of them still smoldering from the recent conflict.
“Gatta…I’m tired.” The shorter of the two pulling back her hood and shaking her hair loose, dark locks curling around her shoulders like a mane. The other removed his hood with

The following four years passed by very quickly. Otogi, having found new will to live, once again became an artist who had his popularity soar. He and Ixlan lived very well in Japan. His place in the world secure, he worked as hard as he could to defrost Ixlan.
“Pixie-chan,” he would say, “Did you make any new friends at school today?”
“No, Gramps,” she would reply, “The other kids seem content with keeping their distance.”
At the end of the four years, she graduated, not having met anyone she respected. The kids kept their distance from the “Foreigner,” and she made no attempt to

With the rise of the monsters came the retreat of humanity. Large portions of Earth have now been claimed by monsters, and vast wildernesses mark their territory. Otogi Hinata was a man with very little left to live for. He was a man of 62 years of age, and had white, wispy hair, though it was disappearing. He had previously been an artist, but his popularity had dwindled. He was too old to get any job worth doing, and his abilities weren’t enough to get him hired anywhere. After seeing his work sell less and less, he decided to take a trip through Europe in an attempt to find something worth expressing in art. That was his story, at least. Secretly, he was simply trying to find a reason to continue living.
That day, on August 27th, 4104 in a café in Venice, Italy, he found it.
